The IX Youth Science Parliament 2025 brought together bright young minds from across Andalusia, Spain, to explore pressing scientific topics tied to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Organised by the Andalusian Society for Science Dissemination and the Descubre Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the Andalusian Youth Institute, this initiative empowers high school and vocational training students to engage in democratic decision-making around science and sustainability.

Students worked in teams to discuss four key themes:

  • Energy

  • Mobility and Health

  • Production, Consumption and Food

  • Communication and Climate Change

In the lead-up to the final session, Prof. José Antonio Becerra, a member of the University of Seville research team involved in the CEEGS and ECF4CLIM projects, participated as an external expert on the topic of energy. His insights helped students critically examine the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector as part of a sustainable future.

The final session took place in March 2025 at the Andalusian Parliament, where mixed student teams representing schools across the region came together to present and debate their ideas—offering a glimpse into the future of informed, science-based policy making.
