Within the framework of the CEEGS project, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) announces a video contest on CO2 storage and geothermal heat extraction.
We invite all people who are at least 12 years old to channel their creativity and passion into a video addressing the following subjects:
- Why energy storage is important for the energy transition?
- How can the CEEGS technology contribute to a sustainable future?
Participation in the CEEGS Video Contests is open to all people living in a country member of the Council of Europe (you can check here the members list). We encourage the participation of teenagers who will not only compete for the main three prize categories, but also for a special prize for underage participants between 12-17 years old.
It is possible to participate individually or as a team of a maximum 4 members with family, friends or classmates.
Deadline for video submissions is 30 April 2025.

CEEGS proposes to combine a renewable energy storage system (based on CO2 storage in geological formations), and geothermal heat extraction. Curious to learn more? Watch our explainer video below:
- Language: The language of the video must be English, but you can also use your native language adding English subtitles.
- Format: There are no restrictions on the video format, but HD, H264, and MP4 videos are preferred. A website link to a video will not be valid, the video needs to be uploaded when filling the form.
- Duration: The recommended duration for the video is no longer than 2 minutes. However, you can also send a longer video instead.
- Size: The file size must be less than 1 GB.
- Special Prize for Teenagers (12-17-year-old participants): Gift card (450 EUR)
Three Main Prizes:
- First Place: Gift card (450 EUR)
- Second Place: Gift card (300 EUR)
- Third Place: Gift card (150 EUR)
To be eligible for the Special Prize for Teenagers all the team members or individual participants must be underage at the time of submitting the video. The video winning the Special Prize for Teenagers won’t be eligible for the other three main prizes. However, the videos from underage participants that are not awarded the Special Prize for Teenagers will be eligible for the three main prizes. The three main prizes will be awarded to the three most-voted videos among finalists in the second stage of the contest (public vote). Only one prize will be awarded per winner video, independently of the number of team members participating.
- Jury Evaluation: In the first round, a jury will narrow down the number of entries to the finalist movies.
- Public Vote: After this, the public audience will select their favourite three movies. The finalist movies will be uploaded to the social media channels or/and website of the CEEGS project. Then the public will be able to vote for the best movie.
Jury Evaluation Criteria:
- Content/Idea/Style
- Artistic value
- Technical implementation
The CEEGS Video Contest opened in November and videos can be submitted until 30 April 2025.
