CEEGS researchers from the University of Seville and Converge! have published a paper on the “Assessment of carbon dioxide transcritical cycles for electrothermal energy storage with geological storage in salt cavities” in Applied Thermal Engineering.
Highlights:
• Integration of CO2 geological storage in electrothermal energy storage system.
• Innovative analysis of the impact of salt cavity conditions on system behaviour.
• Round-trip efficiency can exceed 70% if all the stored thermal energy could be used.
• Adaptation of transcritical CO2 cycles and salt cavity scenario is feasible.
